Polytherapeutics filed United States and PCT International patent applications pertaining to compositions and method for transdermal administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug (NSAID) for the treatment of inflammation and pain caused by conditions such as arthritis, degenerative joint disease, and minor pains. The patent filings cover PHARMAGESIC™ TRANSDERMAL SYSTEM, a new product developed at Polytherapeutics. Pharmagesic™ is comprised of an NSAID diclofenac sodium in a PharmaDur® gel matrix for topical skin application.

Shah gave a presentation entitled “PharmaDur®, A Novel Dermal & Transdermal Delivery System” at the inaugural launch of the Center for Dermal Research at Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ. Dr. Shah was one of the three invited speakers to participate at the event.

February 24-25, 2011: Polytherapeutics president Dr. Kishore R. Shah gave a presentation entitled “Patchless Transdermal Drug Delivery” at the PHARMAED RESOURCES conference on Transdermal Drug Delivery, which was attended by scientists from pharmaceutical industry, academia, and FDA. The presentation included a discussion of the PharmaDur® technology within the context of global advances in the patchless transdermal science and the markets.

Polytherapeutics was granted European patent # EP 1 077 678 B1 entitled “Mucoadhesive Compositions for Administration of Biologically Active Agents to Animal Tissues”, which provides a broad intellectual property protection in Europe to its PharmaDur® drug delivery technology.
